Yellow iris 💛 my local park is currently covered with them. They grow in damp marshy areas and at the edges of lakes and rivers providing shelter for waterfowl like coots and moorhen.
We visited the stunning Blue Lagoon on Saturday! 🏞 It has formed in a disused quarry, its industrial past has created the pool’s unique colour. It felt like walking into an American landscape with the conifer trees and high stone cliffs. Highlights of the day also included hearing a cuckoo and having my first wild swim of the year (though I couldn’t brave it without a wetsuit!)
The stunning bluebell carpets at Wennalt Woods, from a couple of weeks ago. My photos can’t do it justice but I think this might be the most beautiful bluebell wood I’ve visited (and I’ve been to a few!) Also I can’t believe we only just discovered such a gorgeous place after 3 years of living here! 🌷
Every spring I love rediscovering wildflowers as I usually forget their names over winter! Here’s white deadnettle (my brother and I called it honeysuckle as kids as we sucked on the sweet flowers!), garlic mustard and ground ivy.
